Ayyappalakera Tailam: Useful for Psoriasis, Eczema, and Dandruff. Ayyappalakera Tailam has Kapha-Pitta Shamak property and is also used in vata kapha pradhan (Tridoshaj Vyadhi on skin disorders).
Ayyappalakera Tailam: In Plaque Psoriasis - resembling ekakushtha, which is one among the Kshudrakushtha. Ekakushtha is a papulosquamous skin disorder characterised by erythematous squamous lesions and seen as reddish scaly regions on the skin also known as dry eczema, Tinea Corporis (circular ring patches, dryness, itching and white powdery discharge.
In ayurvedic literature, all skin conditions are categorised into seven Mahakushthas and 11 Kshudrakushthas, discussed under the Kushtharogaadhikar. Ekakushtha is one of the 11 Kshudrakushthas. Symptoms observed in Ekakushtha include Mahavastu (spread over a larger surface area), Matsayashakalopama (resembling fish skin), and Kandu (itching). It is considered a Tridoshajvyadhi with Vata kapha Pradhan. The Samprapti (pathogenesis) involves the involvement of Rasa (plasma), Rakta (blood), Mamsa (muscle), and Lasika (lymph) leading to Dosha-Dushya Samurchana in the Twak (skin), resulting in Ekakushtha. Kushtha originates due to the vitiations of all three doshas and is classified according to the predominantly one (Ekadoshaja), two (Dwidoshaja) or the three doshas (Tridoshaja like Kakana).
Ayyappalakera Tailam: recommended for the treatment of skin disorders originated due to Pitta- Kaphadosha vitiations like major disorder Sidhma and minor disorders like Dadru, Pama, Visphotaka.
